Dancing for BYUH Culture Night 2013

This year's my first and last time joining the culture night at BYUH. I only had a little time to join practices that is why I had to choose to join only 1 culture. Of course, I would have chosen my own culture, but I really wanted to learn something new aside from the Filipino Cultural Dances that I grew up with. Don't get me wrong, I did not not choose dancing with the Filipino Club because of any bad reason, I love my own culture and I am and will always be a proud Filipino. I got to learn so many Filipino folk dances through my Grandma, who is a great dancer (I wish dancing runs through the blood as well, but it obviously didn't run through my veins). Good job to the Filipino Chapter by the way, they did so good representing the culture. So yeah, a lot of you would guess what would be the culture that I would choose aside from the Philippines. I chose to join the Tahitian dance for a lot of reasons. 1) Of course, because that's my husband's culture; 2) I really love Tahitian Dance even before I met Garry; 3) I have been to Tahiti and with just 2 months of stay I fell in love with the culture. It felt really good to be able to learn the dance, even though I was really not good at it, even Garry laughs at me with the way I danced! Haha. But that's ok, at least it was a wonderful experience. All the pain (I literally mean pain, muscle pain!) was worth it at the end. I am only going to be able to share the pictures that I took in our house. I didn't have a single picture during the performance, because Garry and Keahi weren't even there. How can they be there if we performed at midnight? They are zzZZZZZ already.

So that's a lot of vanity, but I just really wanted to take advantage of this once in a lifetime experience of wearing a Tahitian costume! ahaha.
